چکیده

Current necessities of nuclear power plants have led to increase burn-up the fuel during operation. In this context, some undesirable processes, such as a higher release gaseous fission products, may occur. New UO2-based fuels are being developed by adding doping agents. Chromia (Cr2O3) has proved considerably enhance grain growth sintering, and thus promote retention these products. The study Cr-doped UO2 at in situ conditions would allow testing real performance operating conditions. existence Raman portable instruments makes scenario feasible. But first, measurement protocols need be developed. Therefore, paper, we explore use spectroscopy an approach for analysis effect Cr2O3 addition set UO2Cr2O3 sintered pellets. validity is demonstrated using Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Three Components describe 98.8% total variance data, they related main modes samples. addition, SEM images shown presence bigger precipitates not only when solubility limit Cr3+ exceeded, but also it reached. By XRD, well-known Vegard behavior observed, Cr3+dissolved into matrix found (748±16) ppm particular sintering used.

Pattern Recognition Based on Principal Component Analysis in Raman Spectroscopy Applied to Artistic Pigments

It is proposed an algorithm, based on the general scheme of pattern recognition and on the technique of principal components analysis, developed to automatically select the reference Raman spectrum corresponding to an unknown Raman spectrum, which is a ‘fingerprint’ of the analyzed material. It is applied to the identification of artistic pigments in art works. The performance of the implemente...

Estimating Atomic Sizes with Raman Spectroscopy

We demonstrate a technique to determine the Van der Waals radius of iodine atoms using Raman spectroscopy. The iodine diatomic molecules are diffused into the nano-scale channels of a zeolite single crystal. We found their polarized Raman spectroscopy, which corresponds to iodine molecule's vibrational motion along the direction of molecular axis, is significantly modified by the interaction be...

Demonstration of WDM weighted addition for principal component analysis.

We consider an optical technique for performing tunable weighted addition using wavelength-division multiplexed (WDM) inputs, the enabling function of a recently proposed photonic spike processing architecture [J. Lightwave Technol., 32 (2014)]. WDM weighted addition provides important advantages to performance, integrability, and networking capability that were not possible in any past approac...

Automatic Identification of Artistic Pigments by Raman Spectroscopy Using Fuzzy Logic and Principal Component Analysis

This work offers an automatic identification system of Raman spectra of artistic pigments. The proposed methodology is based on a fuzzy logic system, and uses principal component analysis to reduce redundancies in data and the correlation operator as an index of similarity between two Raman spectra. Moreover, as sometimes pigments are used in mixtures by artist, the designed system is able to r...
